The Heineken Affinity Award is a new platform celebrating and creating awareness and dialogue around the work of ten emerging and established African American filmmakers.

Each of these African American filmmakers were nominated by industry professionals from across the country. Basing their decisions on the filmmaker’s creative potential, previous work and need of exposure, the following ten projects were selected. Please join us and VIEW each of their new projects and bodies of work!

The aim of this space is to help recognize a working generation of filmmakers and encourage a dialogue around their stories. Please feel free to SHARE their exciting new works with your colleagues, friends, and cinema lovers.

All of the Affinity winners will receive an initial grant in recognition of their excellent work. Now that we’ve created a space for you to view and share their work, it is up to you to help us further support and select one of the filmmakers with an additional $20,000 cash award, as well as year round project support and professional development from the Tribeca Film Institute®. The Heineken Affinity Award is by nomination only. Industry professionals are surveyed and asked to nominate their choice of filmmaker. The award is to serve as a new platform that celebrates and creates further awareness around the work of established and emerging African American filmmakers.
